Certification FAQs
What is a certification?
A certification is an industry recognised qualification that showcases your skills and knowledge in a specific specialism or product. It is awarded by an official body or technology provider and acts as proof that you can confidently apply what you have learned in real solutions. Certifications are designed to measure ability against a clear and consistent standard, which means employers can trust that you have the capability to perform effectively from day one.
Earning a new certification can act as a catalyst for career growth because many certifications follow a structured learning path that helps you build the skills needed for a new role. This makes them a strong option for anyone looking to progress, retrain or transition into a more specialised area.
Certifications also strengthen your CV by demonstrating commitment to professional development. They show that you understand your subject, keep your skills up to date and can meet the expectations of a modern digital workplace.
Many organisations look for certified professionals when making hiring decisions because it reduces risk, supports quality work and brings recognised expertise into the team.
What certifications are in high demand right now?
The most in-demand certifications of 2026 include a mix of established qualifications from the world of IT and project management, as well as emerging standards from the world of data and AI.
The demand for AI certifications rose by 334% in 2025, with many looking to develop their security skills for the emerging threats that come with AI. This makes standards like AIGP and ISO 27001 more in demand than ever for both individuals and businesses.
With cyber security incidents on the rise, and becoming more complex, there is an increasing global increase in demand for cyber security capability. This was recently highlighted by the UK government, with this report specifically highlighting the importance of relevant cyber security certifications.
However, the most in-demand certifications amongst employers remains project management, with PRINCE2 and PMP two of the most referenced certifications on job vacancy descriptions.
Alongside project management, there is also high demand for certifications from leading IT and application providers, such as Microsoft, CompTIA and Cisco. Certifications like ITIL 4, CompTIA A+ and Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst remain ever popular and in-demand.
How do I become certified?
For most certifications, you need to study for an exam or assessment. Passing that exam then rewards you with an official certification from accrediting body.
With many certifications, you can take a course that prepares you for the exam, with the exam itself included.
By studying for an exam with QA, you will receive expert guidance and hands-on experience, usually supported by an individual who has real-life experience and has earned the certification themself.
Some certifications do not expire, while others require recertification after a certain period of time. This can help you to sharpen up your knowledge and adapt to changes in curriculum and the wider industry relevant to the qualification.
There are subtle differences between all certification bodies and exams and information about each individual certification can be found on QA course pages.
Are exams included in QA certification courses?
Exams are included in many of our courses and certifications. By choosing one of these courses, you will receive training from one of our experts and a voucher which can be redeemed to take the subsequent exam. This can often save on time and cost.
Some courses do not include an exam, but QA will provide you with the information on how to become certified through the accreditation body.
Which certifications do QA offer?

Is a certification worth it?
For most learners, certifications are absolutely worth the time and cost investment needed. Not only is a certification an investment in your own skills and capability, it can also build credibility in your field. Many certifications are aligned with specific job roles, which can help you progress into new roles and increase your salary.
Certifications can also help you learn new skills. Individuals in any field and role may benefit from a project management qualification, especially if they are involved in scaling operations or management of teams.
For businesses, investing in certification training can support staff fulfillment and help to bring new skills into your business. Upskilling existing team members can act as an alternative to hiring new talent, and provide learners with a foundation to improve their career prospects.
