OCL needed a custom solution that would unify their approach, align their National Service Teams, and eliminate silos once and for all.

QA responded with a clear action plan to deliver change through our ITIL training portfolio.

“The relationship works so well because of the flexibility QA offer, and their willingness to adapt training to meet our specific needs.

With QA, it’s more than just a supplier relationship – it’s a partnership. We co-create solutions together, which has been essential in crafting the training programmes we need.”

ITIL FAQs

What is the difference between ITIL 4 and ITIL 5?

ITIL5 builds on the foundations of ITIL4 to reflect today’s digital‑first reality. It broadens the framework beyond IT, positioning ITIL as relevant to every organisation that uses digital services.

ITIL 5 shifts the emphasis from services alone to integrated products and services, adopts an AI‑native mindset, and supports faster adaptation in highly automated environments.

It places stronger focus on measurable outcomes, ensuring people, practices and technology work together to deliver sustained business value in an era of constant change.

What are the ITIL5 extension modules?

There will be nine core courses in the new ITIL® 5 qualification model and one extension module.

These courses focus on those specified elements. Managing and implementing a service, managing and implementing products, the customer and user experience, and the strategy supporting the service, products or experience.

What is ITIL?

ITIL 5 has been developed to address the new realities of the digital landscape. Organisations today must operate faster, smarter and more flexibly, especially with AI transforming how work gets done.

There has long been a call for the IT element of IT service management to be dropped as ITIL is for Everyone. The new ITIL 5 courses recognise this and are aimed at every business utilising digital services.

Why ITIL 5 is needed:

  • Digital-first, product-centric enterprises require updated guidance. Previous versions focused mainly on services; modern organisations manage integrated products and services.

  • AI and automation are reshaping operations. ITIL 5 provides an AI-native approach that helps organisations adapt and innovate confidently.

  • Businesses need models that support agility and rapid change. ITIL 5 evolves to ensure adaptive, outcome-focused practices aligned with real-world needs.

  • Organisations must continually demonstrate measurable value. The new framework strengthens the link between people, practices, and technology to drive sustainable business results.

Who should become ITIL certified?

ITIL®  is for anyone working in an IT or service environment looking to gain an introduction to service management using the ITIL methodology.

It is designed for businesses and professionals who are navigating complex AI-driven digital transformation and aims to integrate product management, service delivery and AI automation in its training.

It targets IT and business professionals across industries seeking to create, deliver, or support digital products and services.

How do I earn an ITIL certification?

Each ITIL®  module is accompanied by a core guide and a globally recognised professional certification, from which millions of professionals worldwide have benefitted. The course consists of studying from the guide, then taking an exam.

To gain your ITIL certification, you can attend a training course with an accredited training organisation such as QA, which will include the exam as part of the course.

To gain your certification, you’ll need to pass the Foundation courses. Then, you can go on to a Managing Professional qualification, or a Strategic Leader qualification.

Do ITIL® certifications expire?

All certification after Jan 1st 2023 will have a validity period of three years, meaning you will need to take a re-certification course if you want to continue holding an ITIL certification.
