Yesterday, QA employees joined partners Rackspace and AWS for the annual J.P.Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge. The Corporate Challenge is an annual run, intended to focus on promoting ‘fitness in the workplace’ and takes place internationally.
The venue for London was Battersea Park. We arrived quite early and were taken back by how many runners there were. With over 14,000 participants from 357 companies, the venue was heaving! We even had the London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, running at the event.
With the race fast approaching, conversation soon turned to what time we would each be expecting to make. Temperatures were still quite high, and some of us less experienced runners were worried whether we would even make it around the course! But we didn't have much time to dwell on this. We got changed into our specially designed t-shirts, courtesy of AWS and joined the others to begin the 5.6 km run.
The warm weather did not deter us, although it did make the run slightly challenging at times. However, the route around Battersea Park was pretty impressive and cheers from supporters kept us going.
Around 8pm ish, most of us had completed the race. We slowly made our way back to the hospitality tent for some well-deserved beers and a bite to eat. All in all, it was a great evening and something we hope to be part of again next year. Well done to everyone who participated and raising money for Age UK.
