Business and IT training courses from QA

History of QA

QA has been committed to learning excellence for over 30 years.
We have continually branched out and developed the expertise that
has made us the UK’s leading business and IT training provider.

Early Years

QA Ltd was formed in 1985 by three former Intel employees: Mike Cheeseman, Jim Watt and Howard Kornstein. The name was inspired by a combination of Queen Anne House in Cirencester, the company's first offices, and the term 'quality assurance'. The trio soon moved into the Cirencester Park Estate, where the Earl Bathurst was their landlord.

The company experienced a breakthrough when it began to provide technical training for IBM's European staff. By 1990, IBM had become QA Ltd's biggest customer. Today, QA continues to offer a portfolio of IBM training courses. In the early 1990s, as a result of this partnership, IBM acquired 10% of QA and co-opted Howard Ford to QA Ltd's board.

Road to Success

  • 1994: QA sold to P&P Group, which merged its business applications training company, P&P Training, with QA to become QA Training.
  • 1999: QA acquired the training division of CapGemini, enabling QA to expand its training portfolio to include project management and business analysis products.
  • 2006: QA was bought by Interquad and became QA-IQ. QA subsequently acquired competitor companies Xpertise Group, Remarc Group and Aikona Management, further strengthening its position as the UK's leading business and IT training company.
