Our Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard combines online learning, classroom training and on-the-job experience to develop your business skills. Perfect if you are already employed in a business administration role and want to improve your performance or if you are new to a position and want to gather critical skills.

This apprenticeship gives you a great opportunity to develop and enhance your administrative skills, ensuring you have the grounding needed to become a Personal Assistant, Business Administrator or an Administration Coordinator.

What’s included?

On successful completion of the programme, you will gain the following qualifications:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration


The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades D or above
  • You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject

What will you learn?

You will learn the following essential skills:

  • Understanding the principles of business and administration
  • Learning communication skills
  • Understanding the importance of data collection, input and analysis
  • Participating in projects

This will help to equip you with the skills essential to take on job roles such as Business Administrator, Records Analyst, Personal Assistant, Administration Coordinator and much more.


During the programme you’ll be required to spend 20% of your time at work on off-the-job learning.

The business administrator is expected to deliver their responsibilities efficiently and with integrity – showing a positive attitude. The role involves demonstrating strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills. The business administrator is also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.

The Standard will cover five key modules:

Module 1: Value of Skills

Module 2: External Factors

Module 3: Business Fundamentals

Module 4: Organisations and Process

Module 5: Presentation and Assessment Preparation

There are a range of optional modules available so the programme can be tailored to suit your role and learning objectives.
