QA has an extensive attraction and recruiting service targeted at young people interested in and passionate about a career in tech. Our recruitment model includes vigorous AI assessments for candidates to ensure we select apprentices of the highest calibre.

QA's response to Covid-19

The Government has issued guidance in response to Covid-19, encouraging training providers to deliver training to apprentices remotely and via e-learning as far as is practicable

We recognise that these are challenging times for many, and some employers might be tempted to place learners on a ‘Break in Learning’. Our experience suggests this is the wrong thing to do, as many who go on a break will never re-join the programme – wasting all their effort so far. On the contrary, now is the time for existing apprentices to accelerate their learning.

Furthermore, the Government has confirmed (i) flexibilities to allow furloughed apprentices to continue their training, and to take their end-point assessment, and (ii) that existing furloughed employees can start a new apprenticeship, as long as it does not provide services to, or generate revenue for, their employer.

What a great opportunity to utilise otherwise lost time!  We have been overwhelmed by the adaptability and resilience apprentices have shown shifting how they work, and how they learn, so rapidly.

Research published by the Industrial Strategy Council suggests that by 2030 nearly 90% of the working population may lack the digital skills needed. At a time when digital technologies have rapidly changed all our working lives, it is perhaps a moment to consider how many more employees might benefit from a technology apprenticeship.
