The apprenticeship levy is finally here and on 1 May, we saw the new Apprenticeship Service launch. QA is leaping into the new world of apprenticeship funding, having already seen their first cohorts register through the new digital account.

The apprenticeship levy is paid by employers in any sector with a pay bill of more than £3 million per year, and is charged at 0.5% of the total wage bill. Levy funds are accessed through a new Apprenticeship Service account. It is through the Apprenticeship Service that levy-paying employers now choose apprenticeship-training providers, register learners and set up payments.

This is a huge change to how apprenticeships are funded, for both employers and training providers. QA has been preparing for the changes over the past year – now the business has seen the first learners registered through the digital account.

QA has seen the first apprenticeship levy learners in the Apprenticeship Service within the first two weeks of the portal launching.

Whilst it is still early days, and there is more functionality in the digital service yet to be released, this is a great first step in QA’s journey using the new Apprenticeship Service.
