Overview
The PRINCE2 Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices guidance provides advice, supported by discussion and examples, on how to develop a governance structure that helps optimise an organisation's investment in change alongside its business-as-usual work.
This Foundation and Practitioner course comprises five days of trainer led instruction. The course will provide delegates with a comprehensive and applied understanding of best practice PMO advice and prepare delegates for both Foundation and Practitioner Certificate examinations.
Prerequisites
- Delegates need to have worked in a project/programme environment and understand the basic principles relating to Programme and Project Management.
- A basic understanding of the PRINCE2 product would be a benefit for this course.
Pre Course Reading
You will be provided with pre-course reading prior to attending the course. This pre-reading is in the form of a PDF and is expected to take approximately two to three hours to complete. Your learning starts with this pre-reading, so please ensure you can complete the pre-course activities in full prior to attending.

Learners undertaking this course will be provided with an eBook of the official course manual to support their learning, instructions on how to access the eBook will be provided with the course joining instructions.
Please note: For open book exams learners are permitted to use a second device to access the official course manual, the use of dual monitors is not permitted during the exam.
Please ensure you bring a device such as a mobile phone, tablet or laptop to be able to load your course material on to as you may need this for use in the evenings.

Examinations
PeopleCert exams take place remotely via PeopleCert Online Proctoring. You will be required to download and install ExamShield and conduct a compatibility test prior to sitting the exam. We strongly recommend you do not leave this until just before your exam time slot.
Exam slots are available 24/7 and learners need to be pre-book an exam time with the proctoring service. After purchase you will receive information on how to book your exams at a date and time convenient to you. Although your exam vouchers are valid for 12-months we strongly recommend you do not leave it too long after your course to sit them. If you wanted to schedule them for the same week as tuition, please note that foundation course instruction completes at around 4.30pm on the third day of your course and practitioner course instruction completes around 4.30pm on the final day of your course. Therefore, please ensure any exams are scheduled at least an hour after those times.
Once an exam slot is booked you can amend the date/time providing it’s within the voucher expiration date. Please note that if you change a booked exam slot within 48 hours of the time booked PeopleCert will charge an admin fee.
The foundation exam consists of:
- 70 multiple choice questions
- 1 hour.
- Closed book
- Candidates require 35 correct answers to pass
The practitioner exam consists of:
- 4 question groups with 20 questions in each (a total of 80 multiple-choice questions – 1 mark per question)
- 2.5 hours
- Open book
- Candidates require 40 correct answers to pass
Candidates will be informed of their indicative result before they leave the exam platform for each exam
Exam Proof of identification
Candidates are required to provide Photo ID with a valid signature e.g. driving license, passport or named work ID badges prior to sitting their exam. Failure to produce this ID will result in their exam results being withheld until proof of ID is provided. Please note that if proof is not provided within 40 days, candidate's exam results will be null and void and a re-sit would be required.
Reasonable Adjustments Policy
The exam provider allows additional time for candidates who have a disability or whose native language differs to that of the examination paper. How can I create an account on myQA.com?
There are a number of ways to create an account. If you are a self-funder, simply select the "Create account" option on the login page.
If you have been booked onto a course by your company, you will receive a confirmation email. From this email, select "Sign into myQA" and you will be taken to the "Create account" page. Complete all of the details and select "Create account".
If you have the booking number you can also go here and select the "I have a booking number" option. Enter the booking reference and your surname. If the details match, you will be taken to the "Create account" page from where you can enter your details and confirm your account.

How do QA’s virtual classroom courses work?
Our virtual classroom courses allow you to access award-winning classroom training, without leaving your home or office. Our learning professionals are specially trained on how to interact with remote attendees and our remote labs ensure all participants can take part in hands-on exercises wherever they are.
We use the WebEx video conferencing platform by Cisco. Before you book, check that you meet the WebEx system requirements and run a test meeting to ensure the software is compatible with your firewall settings. If it doesn’t work, try adjusting your settings or contact your IT department about permitting the website.
How do QA’s online courses work?
QA online courses, also commonly known as distance learning courses or elearning courses, take the form of interactive software designed for individual learning, but you will also have access to full support from our subject-matter experts for the duration of your course.
Once you have purchased the Online course and have completed your registration, you will receive the necessary details to enable you to immediately access it through our e-learning platform and you can start to learn straight away, from any compatible device. Access to the online learning platform is valid for one year from the booking date.
All courses are built around case studies and presented in an engaging format, which includes storytelling elements, video, audio and humour. Every case study is supported by sample documents and a collection of Knowledge Nuggets that provide more in-depth detail on the wider processes.
When will I receive my joining instructions?
Joining instructions for QA courses are sent two weeks prior to the course start date, or immediately if the booking is confirmed within this timeframe. For course bookings made via QA but delivered by a third-party supplier, joining instructions are sent to attendees prior to the training course, but timescales vary depending on each supplier’s terms.
