Private Roundtable

Overview

Scotland’s employers are signalling a growing need for a clear, credible pathway to develop AI skills at scale. Yet, with both SQA and Skills Development Scotland undergoing significant organisational change, there is currently no single body taking ownership of an AI apprenticeship or qualification framework. As a result, employer demand is increasingly outpacing the system’s ability to respond.

This private, invitation-only roundtable convenes senior leaders from government, industry and education to explore how Scotland can collectively address this gap. The session will focus on what a modern, future-ready AI apprenticeship or qualification model could look like—one that meets employer demand, supports early-talent development and strengthens the national skills pipeline.

Insights and outcomes from the discussion will directly inform the wider afternoon event, ensuring the public conversation is grounded in the realities, opportunities and constraints identified by Scotland’s key decision-makers.
