Mastering Prompting in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Copilot Chat

This course is intended for learners who:

• Are actively using Microsoft 365 Copilot or Copilot Chat in their day-to-day work
• Have completed QA’s Empower Your Workflow – Fundamentals of Microsoft 365 Copilot course (QA365COPBU) or have equivalent experience
• Are ready to move beyond feature use and develop advanced Microsoft Copilot interaction skills

Note - This is not a Microsoft 365 Copilot introduction or App feature walkthrough course.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

• Work with Microsoft Copilot as a collaborative partner, not a vending machine - shaping tasks through dialogue, clarification, and shared exploration.
• Design clear, structured prompts that give Microsoft Copilot the signal it needs to produce high-quality, purposeful responses.
• Use techniques - constraints, clarifiers, and powerful alignment checks - to keep Microsoft Copilot focused and prevent drift.
• Apply deep role prompting to shift tone, perspective, and expertise so Microsoft Copilot produces more relevant and context-aware outputs.
• Use meta-skills to guide Microsoft Copilot’s thinking: asking it to critique, question, confirm, or improve its own reasoning before generating results.
• Collaborate with Microsoft Copilot as a thought partner, using it to test assumptions, explore alternatives, and uncover missing information.
• Practise iterative refinement - shaping, strengthening, and stress-testing Microsoft Copilot outputs to reach clearer, more reliable results.
• Use troubleshooting and recovery techniques to correct drift, challenge hallucinations, and bring Microsoft Copilot back on track.
• Translate tasks from any role or workflow into effective conversational strategies that consistently produce better outcomes.
• Takeaway prompting skills they can apply confidently in any rolem task, industry, context or AI chat environment.
