Overview

Government focuses more on identifying potential benefits to make the case for investment, and on delivering to budget and schedule, than on ensuring that projects achieve the intended purpose and long-term value.” - National Audit Office, 2023

Managing benefits is a critical discipline for ensuring that projects, programmes and change initiatives deliver real value. This session will explore practical approaches to identifying, planning, and realising benefits throughout the life cycle of change initiatives. We’ll discuss why benefits management matters, how benefits inform decisions concerning strategic objectives, and share insights into overcoming common challenges faced by benefits and project management professionals. You will also be introduced to the principles and practices that form the basis for the primary benefits qualifications in the UK – APMG’s ‘Managing Benefits’ and the BCS ‘Benefits Planning and Realisationcertifications.

By the end of the webinar, you’ll have a better awareness of the importance of actively managing benefits in order to drive measurable outcomes for your organisation.

The session will be led by Gerry McCafferty, a senior learning design consultant at QA Ltd. Gerry has extensive project management experience gained within multi-national engineering and consulting organisations. He has also developed and delivered global project management learning programmes for organisations such as Network Rail, TfL, Babcock, and Nestlé.
