Andy joined QA in 2007 as a Principal Lecturer and is now the PMI Product Owner, responsible for the portfolio of PMI accredited courses.  He has over 20 years commercial experience plus 16 years teaching experience, utilising both traditional and accelerated learning techniques. 

He specialises in PMI and APM exam preparation classes.  With over 15 years project management experience, in a range of IT and business projects , and a financial and sales management background he brings a wealth of real world experiences, that include both successes and failures, that helps to bring project management training to life.

Specialist areas

His main role at QA is the delivery of exam preparation classes for PMI and APM qualifications.

As the PMI Product Owner he is also responsible for:

  • The commercial relationship between PMI and QA
  • Maintaining the quality and technical accuracy of the PMI courses
  • Ensuring compliance to PMI R.E.P. guidelines

Andy has also designed and developed several bespoke courses for QA’s corporate customers and acts as an SME during training bids and sales presentations.

Industry experience

One of two QA lecturers responsible for securing a global training contract with a worldwide petro-chemical organization

As Projects Director, for a small training company, secured a contract to deliver a patented four day immersion program in Project Management, utilising Accelerated Learning techniques, to prepare PM’s for their PMP exams throughout Europe and the Middle East. (The delivery achieved a 98% overall student pass rate.)

Head of Project Delivery, for GE Retail Finance in the UK, responsible for the recruitment, development and management of three teams: Project Management, Business Analysis and User Testing.  This was an IT Portfolio Management role.

As a Senior Project Manager within a Consumer Finance Bank delivered several £multi-million projects, including:

  • An IT & Business Change project developing an existing AS400 based loan application processing system.
  • A project to implement the migration to a Windows NT processing platform across a nation-wide network of branches

As a Project Manager delivered some 40 IT and business change projects, including:

  • Scorecard developments
  • SOX 404 compliance
  • BACS
  • Branch re-locations
  • Setting up Help Desks and Project Offices
  • Created training plans for a nationwide IT rollout that received a Computer Weekly/Unisys Award for Training.
