A newfound passion for Cloud

Owen Riley takes us on his journey to becoming Chuckery Primary School’s in-house ICT prodigy.

Having pictured working a 9-5 in an enormous room filled with humming server towers and snaking wires, being surrounded by young talent wasn’t exactly where Owen thought his future would take him.

Owen is Chuckery Primary School’s resident ICT whizz who completed our Level 3 Microsoft Azure Cloud Support Specialist apprenticeship programme. He very kindly sat down to tell us all about his experience.

Gaining a new set of skills, including some fantastic positive improvements to his methods of organisation, Owen was supported by his Digital Learning Coach and line manager through it all.

Owen made great use of our Learning Platform (formerly Cloud Academy), where he had access to a library of resources that allowed him to augment the learning that he did throughout his apprenticeship.

He thoroughly enjoyed the sandbox environments where he was able to test, experiment, and break things without the consequences! The Platform enabled Owen to learn new skills on top of his apprenticeship and he found it an extremely useful tool.

He notes our learning format as especially helpful, allowing plenty of personal time, and never needing to stay late to complete coursework – not to mention the benefits to Chuckery Primary School, and Walsall Council. Our learning model allows for value to be added to any organisation immediately, with apprentices learning and working simultaneously. It's a win-win!

Since completing the Level 3 Microsoft Azure Cloud Support Specialist apprenticeship programme, Owen has now progressed onto a Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship with QA! We’re delighted to continue supporting Owen on his learning and career journey, along with full support from Chuckery Primary School and Walsall Council.
