Job overview:

The IGD Apprentice role will support the IT infrastructure working closely with users and colleagues. Training courses will be both classroom-based training as well as on the job learning.

IGD is an organisation that is involved within the international food and grocery industry, respected for its expertise and the quality of information and insight. To that end, the business has a very active in-house Technology team, working on its internal systems and applications as well as its external facing websites. The team works on many new technologies and projects and the work is highly varied.

Main role and responsibilities:

Areas of accountability:

  • Administer the IT systems
  • Monitor and manage IT support calls and resolve them in a timely fashion
  • Administer the telephone systems and mobile devices
  • Deploy new or reused computer and telephone equipment
  • Learn about and document standards and procedures for supporting the systems
  • Keep up to date with emergent technology and commercial opportunities
  • Work in an organised fashion to ensure work is carried our methodically and fully tested
  • Communicate effectively with users to ensure they know how their issue is progressing
  • Promote the application of technology and the services provided by your team
  • Anticipate and prevent problems by quality checking work against agreed standards

Other responsibilities:

Attend training courses and pass exams to successfully fulfil the Apprenticeship training scheme.

  • Smart phone administration

  • Strong influencing, negotiating and communication skills
  • Diplomacy, discretion, teamwork, excellence and integrity
  • Awareness and understanding of business trends and issues

Desired quality:

An ideal candidate will have access to a/their own car as public transport links are limited.

Desired qualifications:

3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject, plus GCSE English and Maths (or equivalents) at grade D or above.

Future prospects:

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a higher level apprenticeship or remain on permanent position.
