Participants in this training learn the skills required to implement, use, and maintain the Network Automation (NA) application. This training is useful for persons responsible for supporting and administering the implementations of Network Automation. This training is useful for persons wishing to integrate NA with third-party applications and those wanting to create custom device drivers.

Prerequisites

  • Java/Perl programming Skills
  • Basic SQL experience
  • NA skills equivalent to the NA120 essentials class

The following are desirable but not essential:

  • UNIX/Linux administration experience
  • Network Node Manager (NNM) administration experience

Lecture:

  • Describe the fundamental principles of the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
  • Use the Java API to interact with an NA Core
  • Use the Perl API to interact with an NA Core
  • Use Perl APIS in advanced scripts


Hands -on lab exercises:

  • Create an NA API project in Eclipse
  • Develop and modify Java classes to provision a device
  • Develop a Perl script to add devices to NA
  • Develop and modify Java classes to provision a device using a run book
  • Develop a pure Perl Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) application to add a device to NA
  • Develop a Perl script that programmatically updates passwords used to access devices
  • Develop a Perl script that executes a task and extracts information from it to populate a device customer field
  • Configure an advanced script to provision an interface using an IP Address database
  • Configure an advanced script to manage resource identity pools
