This three-day course equips students with the skills and knowledge to install, configure, and manage HP CloudSystem Foundation. Students will be given an overview of OpenStack, explanation of terms, and architecture. The course covers all of the fundamentals needed to install, configure, and manage HP CloudSystem Foundation. This course is 40% lecture and 60% hands-on lab

Prerequisites

Audience

Administrators, engineers and consultants who will:

  • Configure management server(s) for HP Helion CloudSystem Foundation
  • Install HP Helion CloudSystem Foundation
  • Configure networking and storage in HP Helion CloudSystem Foundation
  • Deploy images and manage instances
  • Configure security and private keys for authentication

Prerequisites

HP recommends that students have attained the following credentials or levels of experience before taking this course:

  • Strongly Recommended: Fundamentals of OpenStack® Technology (H6C68S)
  • HP OneView Administration (H4C04S)
  • HP Virtual Connect (HK758S)

In addition, HP recommends that students are familiar with general networking terminology and basic network security concepts and have an understanding of one of the following operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES
  • vSphere 5.5

Module 6: Adding a Compute Node

  • Create cluster for ESXi compute host

  • Adjust firewall on ESX compute node for VNC connection

Lab 4: Integrating KVM compute node

  • Configure networking on KVM compute node for CloudSystem 8
  • Check dependencies on KVM compute node
  • Import KVM Compute node into CloudSystem 8

Module 7: Images and Instances

  • Describe Cloud-ready images
  • Upload images
  • Launch instances

Lab 5: Provisioning and managing instances

  • Import VMDK and qcow2 images into CloudSystem 8
  • Launch instances on ESX and KVM compute node
  • Access console and settings for instances
  • Launch multiple instances with CloudSystem 8
  • Stop, start, and terminate instance in CloudSystem 8

Module 8: CloudSystem v8.0 Block Storage

  • Describe cinder service
  • Describe block storage terms
  • Be able to configure block storage in CloudSystem v8.0
