This two-day instructor-led course will provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to configure and manage Skype for Business Online, a key component of Office 365. In this course, delegates learn how to manage and configure Skype for Business Online to enable their organization's users to use a unified communications platform for instant messaging, presence, online meetings and audio and video conference calling.

Target Audience:

The primary audience is IT professionals with experience of Office 365, who want to learn how to manage and configure Skype for Business Online and look at new ways for their organization to communicate effectively.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of 'cloud' concepts
  • Understanding of traditional audio and video conferencing calls, instant messaging and presence
  • Experience with Office 365 core components such as user IDs
  • Familiarity with Skype or Lync use
  • Experience with PowerShell

Outline

Module 1: Introduction to Office 365

This module covers an overview of the service, the available subscription plans, and also how to sign up for Office 365 for Enterprises.

Module 2: Office 365 Management Interfaces

This module covers the Office 365 Admin Center and the Skype for Business Admin Center as well as the Skype for Business Online Connector module for Windows PowerShell, used to manage Office 365.

Module 3: Managing Skype for Business Online Users

This module covers the administration of users in Skype for Business Online using both the Skype for Business Admin Center and Windows PowerShell.

Module 4: Managing Skype for Business Online Organization Settings

This module covers the configuration of organization settings for presence, mobile notifications and external access and external communications in Skype for Business Online using both the Skype for Business Admin Center and Windows PowerShell.

Module 5: Managing Skype for Business Online Dial-in Conferencing and Meeting Invitations

This module covers the configuration of third-party providers for dial-in conferencing and dial-in user settings. It also covers configuration of meeting invitation settings in Skype for Business Online using both the Skype for Business Admin Center and Windows PowerShell.

Module 6: Using Skype for Business Online Reporting

This module covers how to access and run the various Skype for Business Online reports using the Skype for Business Admin Center and Windows PowerShell.

Mobile 7: Exploring the Skype for Business Online Troubleshooting Tools

This module covers the Skype for Business Online Sign-in Troubleshooter, the Skype for Business Connectivity Analyzer and Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer tools, and the Skype for Business Online External Communications Setup tool.

Module 8: Configuring Skype for Business Online in a Hybrid Environment with Skype for Business Server On-premises

This module covers preparing and deploying a hybrid environment, configuring federation between Skype for Business Server and Skype for Business Online, configuring federation for an audio conferencing provider, migrating users from Skype for Business on-premises to Skype for Business Online, and administering users in a hybrid Skype for Business environment.
