About this Course

Tech Type Premium
Course Code TTFDOLONLIN
Duration 5 Days

This programme will help L&D professionals, with experience of designing or developing other forms of adult learning, to apply their skills to designing bite-sized elearning modules. It includes how to add the important human element into online learning and how to create stimulating, engaging and effective content.

To ensure skills remain current, we recommend reassessment by either a Certified Internal Assessor from within a delegate’s organisation or through submission of a design which will be assessed against the TAP e Learning Design criteria.

Benefits to the delegate

  • Apply the six stages of the development process for elearning
  • Design effective and engaging elearning materials through storytelling and scenarios
  • Experiment with an authoring tool

Benefits to the organisation

  • Capability to create bite-sized elearning objects that can be accessed 'on demand' and reused as appropriate
  • Reduces training development times through the use of prototype and review storyboards
  • Enables internal creation and maintenance of elearning content rather than external resourcing
  • Facilitates informed evaluation of elearning tools for efficient procurement

TAP Certifications

Due to their unique range and scope, TAP Qualifications provide individuals and organisations with a means to develop a career pathway based on achieving Certification of Learning and Development skills.

Tutor Support

Programme outline

This comprises scheduled live online sessions and self-paced tasks each week. Delegates will need to commit 4-5 hours of study per week and attend the tutor-led online sessions. An individual system check will be carried out to ensure each delegate is able to access WebEx for the live online sessions and the course website.

  • Week 1 – Tutor-led online session: ‘Creating Engaging eLearning’ (1 hour) and self-paced activities including contributing to an online forum, reading and project work
  • Week 2 – Tutor-led online session: ‘Creative Learning and Visual Design’ (1 hour) and self-paced activities including working on a scenario and project work
  • Week 3 – Tutor-led online session: ‘Storyboarding’ (1 hour) and project work creating a storyboard
  • Week 4 – Tutor-led online session: ‘Getting Started with eLearning tools’ (1 hour) and project work using an authoring tool
  • Week 5 – Submission of the project work for assessment and participation in the ‘Implementation and Evaluation’ session (45 minutes) to celebrate success with the group and tutor

Delegates will learn how to

  • Create a detailed storyboard for an elearning object to meet the TAP eLearning Design Profile
  • Experiment with an authoring tool to produce three slides of a storyboard
  • Upload a project to the course online forum for peer review
