Duration:

Four days plus a half day for the exam for those who have successfully completed the NEBOSH Management of Health and Safety (NGC1). For those who have not successfully completed the NGC1 there is an additional one week course.

This course aims to equip staff responsible for fire safety to contribute to the conduct and review of fire risk assessments and fire preventive and protective measures within most workplaces.

For delegates who have successfully completed The NEBOSH Certificate Management of Safety and Health (Unit 1 of NGC) in the last 5 years will only need to complete NEBOSH Fire Certificate (FC1) and Practical (FC2).

Prerequisites

Who Should Attend?

The Fire Certificate is has been designed for managers, supervisors and personnel responsible for fire safety.

Delegates will learn how to

  • Understand the legal framework relating to fire safety.
  • Appreciate the purpose and procedures of investigating fires in the workplace.
  • Outline the principles behind ignition and spread of fire and explosion in work premises.
  • Identify the causes of fire and explosion and outline appropriate control measures to minimise fire risks.
  • Advise on the means of fire protection and prevention of fire spread within buildings.
  • Advise on the development and maintenance of a fire evacuation procedure.
  • Use a simple fire risk assessment technique to determine risk levels and assess the adequacy of controls.
  • The delegate must also complete a Practical Fire Risk Assessment.

Certification

Delegates are awarded the NEBOSH Fire Certificate on successful completion.
