Our Business Advanced Modern Apprenticeship combines classroom training and on-the-job experience to develop real world skills in business administration – perfectly preparing you for a career in business.

This apprenticeship gives you a great opportunity to develop and enhance your business skills, ensuring you have the grounding needed to become a skilled personal assistant, business administrator or office assistant.

What’s included?

On successful completion of the programme, you will gain the following qualifications:

  • SQA Level 3 Diploma in Business and Administration

Prerequisites

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

  • Age 16-24
  • 5 Standard grades (Level 1-3)
  • OR 5 National 5’s or intermediate 2’s level C or above (including Maths and English)

What will you learn?

  • Working on your communication skills, including understanding business writing and email etiquette
  • Understanding data entry, reporting and analysis of business data
  • Working with basic finance and budget management
  • Planning, running and documenting meetings
  • Managing customer-facing operations, including providing service and support

This will equip you with the skills essential to take on job roles such as Front of House Receptionist, Assistant Office Manager and Personal Assistant.

Outline

This is a work-based apprenticeship, and the majority of your learning will be completed in the workplace.

During the programme, you will complete:

  1. One day of classroom training introducing administration theory.
  2. Competency units to complete in the workplace putting theory and practice.

The units covered are:

  • Unit 1: Plan how to manage and improve on own performance in a business environment
  • Unit 2: Review and maintain work in a business environment
  • Unit 3: Communicate in a business environment
  • Unit 4: Use office equipment
  • Unit 5: Support other people to work in a business environment
  • Unit 6: Design and produce documents in a business environment
  • Unit 7: Analyse and report data
  • Unit 8: Solve business problems
