The importance of effective teamwork is something that has been discussed by organisational theorists, executives, managers and teams themselves for more than 100 years.

Despite this conjecture, many people in organisations do not actively value or recognise the importance of effective teamwork and communication in order to ensure higher levels of productivity and work satisfaction; and how they as members of the team can influence and impact this.

Learning Outcomes

This qualification will enable managers to:

  • Understand the role that the team plays in the organisation
  • Contribute to solving problems in the workplace more effectively
  • Communicate more effectively with colleagues
  • Enhance planning and time management skills in order to be a more effective team-member
  • Use techniques to reduce the volume of conflict in the team
  • Build a better team dynamic in the team, enhancing morale, motivation and productivity all at the same time
  • Recognise the importance and clear benefits of working in a diverse team


Style and Structure

This highly participative five-day programme is designed to use facilitated discussion, presentation, case study, group work and research in order to provide a rich learning experience that can be applied directly in the workplace whilst allowing participants to complete a government-approved qualification.

Typically this programme is run over a three-month period, with sessions held regularly. Additional modules can be added from our extensive portfolio of courses in order to create a programme that meets your needs.


Assessment and Course/Qualification Support

This nationally accredited course, certified by the Institute of Leadership and Management, comprises a work-specific reflective review and reflective knowledge review. Support with reflective review and application of learning back in the workplace is included both during and after the programme.

  • Understanding the importance of clear and concise communication


Day 3 - Pressure and stress in the workplace and one to one support

  • Understanding pressure and stress
  • Eustress and Distress
  • Linking stressors that can be influenced with actions that can help to influence
  • Understanding stressors that we can't influence and coping with them
  • Assignment: Reflective review brief
  • One to one support and discussions


Day 4 - Managing time and prioritisation

  • How do I take control of my time
  • Effective planning techniques
  • Using to do lists and diary management to make a difference
  • The importance of effective prioritisation
  • Understanding the Pareto Principle
  • Saying no and negotiating timeframes
  • Incorporating objectives, goals and personal development into work plans


Day 5 - Maintaining a Healthy and Safe workplace*, programme conclusion and one to one support

  • What is Health and Safety?
  • What are my and the organisation's responsibilities?
  • How can I assist in ensuring effective Health and Safety culture?
  • Programme closing discussion and review of objectives
  • Assignment: Reflective review
  • One to one support and discussions
