More than 45 current and former QA apprentices gathered at London’s International House on 3 April to connect with one another at QA’s first-ever Alumni Quiz Night social.
Undeterred by an unexpected spring blizzard, attendees packed out the event space to enjoy a warm welcome from QA Apprenticeships Managing Director Ben Pike, a tech tournament, pizza dinner, refreshments and many fun rounds of competitive trivia – all for a grand prize!
QA launched the UK’s first apprenticeship alumni community in July 2018 to encourage apprentices and alumni to meet one another, have fun, celebrate their achievements, share experiences and build their careers. Unlike their university counterparts, apprentices in the UK have lacked a real social community of fellow learners to connect with during and after completing their programmes – and QA is committed to bridging this gap to improve the learner experience.
“The quiz night was a great evening of fun for apprentices old and new to get together,” says Amar Rai, a QA network engineering apprenticeship alumni who has leveraged his experience into a tech career at Cisco.
“I think the alumni community is great, as those of us who’ve finished an apprenticeship can share our experience and help others who are still on programme. It gives people the chance to connect and share what worked for them – and for all of us to have a bigger voice in saying how great an apprenticeship can be for your career.”
How to get involved
We look forward to hosting many more events in the future. If you know a QA apprentice or alumni who would be keen to take part, they can sign up to hear about our events here.
