This course examines the physical characteristics of the GSM Air Interface as well as the signalling protocols used at Layers 2 and 3. The interaction between a GSM handset and network is thoroughly treated looking at idle mode and dedicated mode procedures.


A good knowledge of GSM network operation, or previous attendance on the GSM System Overview course (MB20).
