This is a bespoke event, which provides the insight into the world of UNIX operating system, which in turn should allow to accept and adopt UNIX as the operating system platform. The content of the course can be tailored to cater for any particular needs of the audience, whilst remaining sufficiently technical and interactive to allow the best use of the available time.

UNIX has reached an unprecedented maturity and now, 40 years later, is just as popular in the commercial market place as ever. This course is applicable to all flavours of UNIX and Linux.

This course will introduce UNIX, as a multi-platform, multi-vendor operating system. It will introduce UNIX filesystem structure and manipulation techniques, the role of shell, as well as several indispensable data manipulation tools. It will explore the process handling, some selected administration and networking issues.

The instructor will support every theoretical lecture with real life examples, demonstrations and interactive exercises. Please note that the content below provides the framework for the event only. The technical depth, as well as business breadth will be adjusted by the instructor to the requirements of the audience.


  • No specific UNIX knowledge is required, but delegates must have a basic knowledge of the major computer components as well as computer operating system functionality and concepts
  • Ability of working with command line (such as in DOS or VMS) and familiarity with hierarchical file structure, organisation and management is assumed.
