ITIL Practitioner – coming soon
It’s been a while since we’ve had a significant development to talk about in the world of ITIL training, but that is all set to change with the upcoming launch of the ITIL Practitioner – a course that’s been in the making since AXELOS took over the ITIL portfolio in 2013.
But what is the background and how does it fit into the overall ITIL certification scheme?
Read on to discover answers to the most frequently asked questions about ITIL Practitioner.
Why is this being introduced?
The new practitioner qualification is being introduced to offer additional practical guidance to the Service Management community. The ITIL Foundation course provides excellent base level education, addressing what best practice is and what the key concepts and principles are. However the Practitioner certificate will help service management professionals to address ‘how’ best practice should be implemented to deliver value in their own business. Essentially it is the next logical step from ITIL Foundation, building on the fundamentals and allowing a practitioner to apply the guidance successfully in the workplace.
Is it the next step after Foundation or is it a pre-requisite for ITIL Intermediate and Advanced courses?
Although ITIL Foundation will be a pre-requisite for ITIL Practitioner, ITIL Practitioner will not be a pre-requisite for the ITIL Intermediate qualifications or ITIL Advanced courses. Candidates will receive 3 credits for successfully passing the examination and these can be used towards higher levels of ITIL certification.
Who is it suitable for?
As the course will be complementary to the existing ITIL scheme it is suitable for anyone needing more practical implementation advice at any level in the IT organisation or within IT Service Management.
When is it being introduced?
Courses and exams will be available from February 2016.
