Even more so than IPv4, IPv6 host names are easier to remember than IP addresses, this demo covers configuring DNS to support IPv6
One of the courses I teach is the
Microsoft Windows 2012 Installing and Configuring course, the
Microsoft designation is the 20410B
.
In the presentation, we look at configuring a DNS server to support
IPv6.
In the good old days of IPv4 I used to be able to remember IPv4
addresses quite easily, for example 172.16.1.200 equalled router,
so host names weren't that important, but now with IPv6 and those
mad addresses it's much harder to remember IP addresses, so trying
to remember that fe80::d904:31bb:ac62:b9f4 equals FS1.qavdc.com for
me is impossible.
DNS now comes into its own.
