Recruiting IT engineers with the right skills

G5 Technologies were struggling to recruit IT engineers with the right skills set. They had never recruited an apprentice before but felt it was a good opportunity for both the apprentice and the employer.

The Solution

Recruiting our IT apprentice, Craig

QA supported G5 Technologies through the process for recruiting an IT apprentice. We helped answer any questions or concerns they had, and found them the right talent for their business.


QA succeeded in finding a perfect match for us that we wouldn’t have known was there. The class-based training was also really helpful for him as it helped to broaden his technical knowledge and confidence when working with customers.

The Outcome

Having impressed G5 Technologies, Craig was permanently employed as a full-time Desktop Engineer.

"The benefit to G5 has been on many levels: it has brought the team together through mentoring and sharing knowledge and also given us a boost from a customer service point of view, because Craig has great interpersonal skills and the customers like speaking to him. 

It is absolutely worth giving the programme a go, we were surprised by how well it worked out. Obviously, you need to spend a bit of time with your apprentice but it is worth it. They are open to being taught your preferred way of working as well as getting the Microsoft training too. It is a fantastic opportunity for both apprentices to gain the right experience and for employers to find a cost effective solution to help fill a skills gap."
