Programme duration 18 months

Our Data Analyst Level 4 apprenticeship develops individuals to collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. It prepares people to work across a variety of projects, providing technical data solutions to a range of stakeholders and customers.

This apprenticeship is a good fit for someone who is transitioning from an IT or Business Analyst role to a Data Analyst role, existing data analysts or new hires in Data Analyst roles.

What’s included?

On successful completion of the programme, you will gain the following qualifications:

  • Data Analyst Level 4
  • BCS Level 4 Certificate in Data Analysis Tools
  • BCS Level 4 Certificate in Data Analysis Concepts


The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

  • Must have 2x A Levels (including maths or ICT)
  • Or A Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • Or an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
  • Or A BTEC Extended Diploma (180 credits) In ICT And GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications)
  • And Strong English Skills
  • You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

What will you learn?

You will learn technical skills including:

  • Identifying, collecting and migrating data
  • Interpreting data
  • Statistical analysis and other analytical techniques including data mining
  • Producing performance dashboards Using tools and techniques for data visualisation
  • Presenting results to stakeholders and making recommendations


During the programme, learners will be required to spend 20% of work time committed to off-the-job learning.

Our programme helps to easily fit this learning prerequisite around a day-to-day duties. Through our online learning platform – learning can be accessed anytime, anywhere and on any device so you get high-quality content on the go.

You will complete:

  1. 7 knowledge modules teaching advanced theory and its practical application, through a combination of online learning and practical classroom workshops.
  2. A work-based portfolio showcasing how you’ve demonstrated the skills you’ve learnt in real work projects.
  3. A synoptic project where you will take a business and technical brief in order to build a finished product.
  4. An end-point assessment interview carried out by BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT – to assess whether you have successfully met the learning requirements of the programme.
