Earlier this year QA employees were asked to take part in a gruelling challenge to raise money for our two chose charities- Teens Unite and Macmillan. The selected challenge was Tough Mudder. For those of you don’t know what this is, it’s a 12 mile obstacle course designed not only to test physical strength but mental grit. The course covers relentlessly muddy, hilly terrain and sees participants submit themselves to a range of obstacles. From swimming through a giant vat of crushed ice to leaping through flames, or experiencing electrical shocks from 10,000 volt wires.
Described as 'probably the toughest event on the planet', Tough Mudder is definitely not for the faint hearted.
And yet we received an overwhelming response from QA employees to participate in the event. With 15 teams and 210 participants, a series of events were planned throughout the summer.
Our first event took place on 21st May. Two teams participated and raised over £1800 for our chosen charities, Teens Unite and Macmillan.
Some of our participants described it as ‘the hardest thing that we have ever done’. Although it was a tough challenge, the teams definitely enjoyed the experience. One participant stated, ‘overcoming the mental and physical challenges together as a team made it all that much sweeter!’. Well done to the team 'Avengers' and 'The Mudder of All Hangovers'.
We still have more Tough Mudder events to go, with a target of £25,000 to raise. Good luck to the teams still left to participate
