Overview

Session 1) Defenceless Defence Against Corporate Breaches

  • Newest breaches to security infrastructure systems or measures.
  • Types of equipment based security systems being utilized and how each can be breached.
  • Be aware of the dangers posed by flaws of existing equipment based security measures / tools.
  • Mistakes that hackers want you to commit and why.
  • Understand measures to be placed to complement existing security tools, infrastructure and measures.

Unveiling the “EBSM” a.k.a. “Equipment-Based Security Mentality” in the corporate world, which most often falls short of preventing hackers from infiltrating those so-called secure infrastructure systems. Hackers often prey on the mistakes made by users of a network and feed on them to break into a “defenceless defence”. In any case, once a simple breach occurs, further breaches will be cascaded through the network. This session will also discuss on the best practices in achieving optimal security in organizations, and how to eliminate EBSM.

Session Synopsis

  • Reviewing current state of information security tools, infrastructure and measures
  • The Cancerous Growth – explaining “Equipment-Based Security Mentality” (EBSM)
  • 10 mistakes hackers want you to make
  • Solutions to complicated attacks

Session 2) GIS: Which is the bigger culprit – Ignorance or Incompetence?

One common flaw in most organizations today is the challenge in countering the gaps in the information security (GIS). Both ignorance and incompetence are major contributing factors of “GIS”, often exists primarily due to the mismatch between IT security expenditure and IT security posture of the organization. The session briefs the target audience on the state of the information security industry by taking into consideration the inputs from the past, looking at the present and forecasting the future. It highlights how some of the most common defensive tactics deployed by many organizations, often deemed as adequate, can be easily breached. This presentation intends to ring alarm bells about the high level of ignorance and incompetence of many organizations when it comes to information security.

Prerequisites

There are no specific pre-requisites but delegates should have a good foundational understanding of IT Security concepts.
