Overview

To implement most changes we need to gain stakeholder buy-in. This can range from getting our managers to agree an action, to gaining full commitment and large financial resources from Directors or a review board.
Most people understand that a business case is a logical way of explaining what needs to be done or changed and in doing so, gaining stakeholder agreement for that action. However, what is often overlooked is that a business case is also a communication tool that may be used to influence a very human decision.

Who will the course benefit?

This course is suitable for anyone who needs to build and present business cases, or influence and affect stakeholder decisions.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • define the key components of a business case
  • produce a cost benefit analysis including the payback period, return on capital, net present value and internal rate of return
  • create basic frameworks for strong business cases
  • tailor business cases for individual decision makers and stakeholders
  • link your message to key corporate strategies.

Having spent a short but enjoyable time working in Netherlands, my trip was to end on a lull, which incurred a four hour wait a Schiphol airport. I had already planned several activities to keep me amused, including a bit of airport shopping (I mean who can resist that?), something to eat and my current book, ‘Quiet Leadership’ by David Rock.
