Overview

The goal of this course is to provide you with the knowledge required by an end-user of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services v3 / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. The course emphasises hands-on experience, with a series of self-guided exercises. The goal of this course is to provide you with the knowledge to use the more advanced tools of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services v3 / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.  Users of this level are commonly referred to as “Power Users”. 

You will create a variety of Workspaces for both documents and meetings. You will discover how to create custom lists and change the settings of common list and library tools to suit the requirements of the users. You will work with blogs and surveys and modify web pages to create customised solutions within SharePoint 2007.

Prerequisites

  • A good understanding of Windows XP or Windows Vista
  • Experience using Internet Explorer or an equivalent browser
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Services equal to our Introduction to SharePoint course outline
  • A good knowledge of Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Delegates will learn how to

  • Create Document and Meeting Workspaces
  • Edit a Workspace site to meet its objectives
  • Create and edit a Blog site
  • Edit categories and post blogs to a Blog site
  • Create a custom list
  • Import data from an Excel Worksheet into a custom list
  • Create and work with Issue Tracking lists
  • Create and work with Project Task lists
  • Create and work with Key Performance Indicator lists
  • Create and work with Surveys
  • Customise List and Library settings such as e-mail and versioning settings
  • Create a custom Workflow
  • Edit Web pages and Web Part Zones with Web parts
