Software Development Tutor / Java Tutor

As a Tutor in Software Development you will be responsible for developing and delivering our NEW and forthcomingSoftware Developer Apprenticeship Programme,in line with the agreed structure and content defined by Microsoft Partners, e-skills UK & QA.

As Tutor, you will be providing training for the 16-18 age group on:

• City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence
• Certificate in ICT Systems & Principles
• Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) in Software Development Fundamentals

Key accountabilities: 

• To deliver high-quality and engaging training, coaching and support as part of QA's C# Software Developer Apprenticeship Programme. To ensure that the apprentices become skilled, competent developers by the end of the Apprenticeship.
• To support the Principal Tutor in delivering other aspects of the Developer Apprenticeship.
• To work closely with the employers and work-based assessor to ensure the skills, knowledge and progress of all apprentices are developed when the apprentices return to their workplaces.
• To retain the learners engaged on the programme and manage their learning and achievement in line with the targets and objectives agreed in their Individual Learning Plan
• To ensure all associated learner processes are followed in an accurate and timely manner.
• To work with the Developer Apprenticeship team to deliver ongoing improvements to this programme to become a key part of the Apprenticeship curriculum.
• Deliver high quality teaching and learning to individuals and groups
• Work with the Business Development Manager, Assessors, Recruitment team & Principal Tutor to achieve volumes for learner engagement, retention, and achievement in line with business strategy and plans.
• Contribute to improvements to the Scheme of Work, Lesson Plans, teaching and learning materials and resources to meet the qualification requirements.
• Complete regular, meaningful and accurate Learner Reviews, linking with the Individual Learning Plan and the Learner Portfolio, to ensure the learner fully understands achievements, objectives and where they are within the Framework.
• Work with internal and external partners to ensure the agreed quality standards are met.
• Work effectively with the internal and external Assessors and Verifiers to ensure the learners successfully complete their full apprenticeship framework by their planned achievement date
• Ensure that programme is delivered in accordance with the organisations Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety Policies. 

Skills and knowledge: 

• Experience of developing software and/or web applications using C#, preferably in a corporate environment
• Recognised IT qualifications covering;
• • Software/Web Development
  • Object oriented programming
  • Software testing
  • Data Modelling
  • C# and .NET
  • Microsoft SQL Server
• Previous experience of working with 16 to 18 year olds would be preferable
• A recognised teaching qualification, or a commitment to achieving a Diploma in Teaching in the Livelong Learning Sector
• Experience of developing in a second language, particularly JAVA or PHP, would be desirable.
• Excellent knowledge of the full software development lifecycle
• Excellent and demonstrable knowledge of software development using C# and .NET
• Knowledge of Apprenticeships and work-based learning is desirable
• Understanding of equality and diversity issues
• Required - Demonstrable C# and .NET Software/Web Development Skills in a corporate environment
• JAVA or PHP Development skills would be desirable
• Excellent communication skills
• A logical thinker and a passion to achieve
• Ability to deliver lively, practical and engaging teaching and learning sessions
• Ability to identify and help learners to overcome potential barriers to learning, progress and achievement.
