Taking an exam with QA

Our wide range of courses includes many certifications, assessed by examination. From PRINCE2 project management through to VMware technical qualifications, you'll be able to complete your course having already taken the required exams to achieve certification.

Exam requirements

Many of our exams have requirements set by the exam boards, so please carefully check the course description and joining instructions for your course to make sure you meet these requirements. They may include:

• Bringing signed photo ID with you to your exam (passport, driving licence, student card) which you will be asked to produce it by the invigilator prior to the exam. 
• Providing proof of previous exam passes
• Ensuring you are familiar with the terms and conditions of the examining body

For some of our exams you will be able to receive your results immediately, as they are marked online or by the invigilator. However, for many externally moderated exams, you will need to wait for your results to be issued. Your trainer will be able to give you the timescale within which results will be issued.

How do I book my exam?

For courses where the exam is included, we will always book this for you, please see individual course outlines for details. 

For courses where the exam is not included, your options are:

• ask us to book the exam for you
• book the exam yourself, using a pre-paid voucher we will give you (Prometric only)
• book and pay for the exam yourself

Pearson Vue examinations

To book a Pearson Vue exam, register with Pearson Vue (1), then send us your Pearson Vue credentials (2). We will then book the exam on your behalf.

1. Register with Pearson Vue
   Go to the Pearson Vue Sign In page and choose Information Technology (IT) from the category list on the left, then Testing program from the list on the right. You will then be prompted to sign into the Pearson Vue website.
   
   Either log in or create a new account. Then choose the exam number, the testing centre and date and time you want to sit the exam. Keep a note of your choices.
    
2. Tell us about your exam
   Let your account manager know what you have chosen on the Pearson Vue site, and he/she will book the exam on your behalf. 

Pearson Vue testing centres
QA operates authorised Pearson Vue testing centres in the following locations:

• London, Middlesex Street
• Milton Keynes
• Reading
• Swindon 

Prometric examinations

To book a Prometric exam, register with Prometric (1), and book using a pre-paid voucher we will give you (2)*.

1. Register with Prometric
   Go to the Prometric exam booking website. Sort the list in Step 1 by choosing Information Technology (IT) Certification, then select the testing program. Choose your region, and click Next. 
   
   On the next screen, you have a number of options related to exam booking. Make choices that suit you.
    
2. Book your exam
   On the payment screen of the Prometric booking system, use the voucher number we gave you to pay for your exam. Note: you need to create an account with Prometric to do this. 

* If we have not given you a voucher, you can pay for the exam yourself using a credit card.
